50 litas banknote

Front.On the right-hand side the banknote bears a portrait of the national patriarch, scholar, statesman and signatory of Lithuania's Declaration of Independence of February 16, 1918, Jonas Basanavicius (1851-1927). The top ornamental band has a denomination numeral 50 on the left and the inscription LIETUVOS BANKAS (Bank of Lithuania) in the centre. There are two numerals 50 on the left and on the right sides of the bottom ornamental band with the inscription PENKIASDESIMT LITU (Fifty Litas) positioned between them. The year of issue 1998, an orange contoured numeral 50, the inscription LIETUVOS BANKO VALDYBOS PIRMININKAS (Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania) and his signature are placed to the left of the portrait. The front of the note contains brown, light orange, green and blue colours.
Back.On the left-hand side of the note: Vilnius Cathedral and Belfry, Gediminas Hill and Castle, the Hill of Three Crosses, Monument to the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas. The coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania and the numeral 50 are located on the upper right-hand side. The left and right bottom corners of the note contain two numerals 50 with the inscription PENKIASDESIMT LITU (Fifty Litas) between them. The back of the note contains brown, light orange, green and blue colours.
Size of the note: 135mmx65 mm. The designers of the banknote are Giedrius Jonaitis and Rimvydas Bartkus.
Security features of the banknote:
- Paper of white colour, non-fluorescent under ultraviolet light.
- Watermark: portrait of Jonas Basanavicius.
- Windowed security thread with the repeated microtext 50 LTL, fluorescent in rainbow colours under ultraviolet light.
- Invisible fibres, fluorescent in green and red under ultraviolet light.
- Raised intaglio printing of the portrait, ornamental bands, denomination numerals and inscriptions on the front and back of the note, as well as of the image and the coat of arms on the back provides a tactile surface easily distinguished by touch.
- A repeated microtext LIETUVOS BANKAS (Bank of Lithuania) is printed in one line: above the bottom ornamental band on the front and the top ornamental band on the back.
- A repeated microtext 50 LB and a tiny ornament visible through a magnifying glass form a clear inscription LTL in the background on the right-hand side of the portrait.
- Recognition sign for the blind: two raised isosceles triangles printed in oblique line.
- Latent image (denomination numeral 50) on the left-hand side of the bottom ornamental band, to the right of the numeral 50.
- Elements (front and back) for anti-colour copier protection: multi-coloured top and bottom edges of the banknote, background of the portrait, security line structure, specific fine line patterns.
- See-through feature front to back in perfect register.
- Vertical serial number fluorescent in light green colour under ultraviolet light.
- The denomination numeral 50 in the center of the front fluoresces under ultraviolet light.
- The rectangle, with four denomination numerals printed in invisible inks in the centre of the front fluoresces in light green colour under ultraviolet light.
- A latent image (denomination numeral 50 repeated six times) printed vertically on the right hand side of the portrait appears when the note is tilted towards the light.
- A repeated microtext 50 LTL is printed above the bottom ornamental band on the back of the note.
