Structural Divisions of the Bank of Lithuania

Departments:

Economics – anlyses the developments and trends in the economy, with a particular focus on prices and financial markets.
Statistics – collects, processes and distributes money and banking, balance of payments and other statistical information.
Market Operations – responsible for the management of the country’s international reserves.
Credit Institutions Supervision – responsible for monitoring the compliance of credit institutions with the standards of safe and reliable banking set by the laws and regulations and recommended internationally.
International Relations – ensures the participation of the Bank of Lithuania in the European System of Central Banks and decision making processes of the European Union as well as cooperation with international financial institutions.
Payment Systems – responsible for ensuring the functioning of the interbank funds transfer and settlements system and its ongoing development.
Cash – responsible for the issue of good quality and secure currency, withdrawal of worn out currency units from circulation, provision of cash services to commercial banks.
Accounting – responsible for the management of accounting, preparation of financial statements.
Information Technologies – responsible for the development and implementation of the Bank’s information technology strategy, administration of the Bank’s information systems.
General Services – responsible for creating necessary working conditions for the employees, ensuring proper technical condition and use of fixed assets.
Security – responsible for ensuring the overall security of Bank of Lithuania property, valuables, staff and information.

Independent Divisions:

Internal Audit
– carries out the auditing of the Bank’s operations, provides recommendations on improving operational aspects and increasing the efficiency of the internal control system.
Legal – responsible for assisting in the implementation and exercise of the functions and rights of the Bank of Lithuania through the use of legal measures.
Organisation and Personnel – responsible for the implementation of Bank of Lithuania personnel and organisational policies, co-ordination of strategic operational planning within the Bank.
General Division – responsible for the organisation office services and other general matters.
Public Relations – responsible for the provision of information to the public and mass media in relation to the Bank of Lithuania activities.
Risk Management – coordinates risk management process in the Bank of Lithuania.

Institutions of the Bank of Lithuania:

Kaunas and Klaipëda Branches – provision of cash to commercial banks and branches within their respective areas of the country.
