The Bank of Lithuania may announce open tenders for ideas linked with coins or design creation tenders for the formation of coin issue plans and for the creation of coins already included into coin issue plans. Open tenders may also be announced for the creation of graphic coin designs, and sometimes – for the creation of a plaster model.
About coin creation stages
- Idea is a coin related subject and the main compositional idea expressed by a text, graphic or other means of representation, on the basis of which a graphic design may be developed;
- Sketch is the coin image created by graphic representation means conveying the compositional scheme and key elements, on the basis of which the graphic design may be developed;
- Graphic design is the coin image precisely showing the coin artistic composition and relief, as well as the coin materiality: mirror and matt surfaces, variety of materials, texture, etc;
- Plaster model is a relief image of the coin graphic design in plaster complying with technical characteristics of the coin mint.
